Dinner time & Yoga

Dhananjay • 1/21/2012
Question

In your earlier replies you mentioned that it is best to have dinner at sunset time.
But I heard from a couple of sources, that the scriptures say that one should not eat anything at dawn/desk time(sandhya kala), except when its a must or some emergency and instead spend that time in prayer/Japa/meditation, etc?
What are your thoughts on this advise?
Or is this not applicable to the current age and time?

Answer

Dinner is to be taken just before Sunset, immediately after getting done with spiritual or Yogic practices. Similarly, the Yogi can take some light food, fruit or milk early in the morning if hungry, before or after Yogic practice as per his hunger/convenience. These are the tenets of Yoga. This is also advocated in Ayurveda as propounded by the self-realized God-Sage Dhanavantari.

This applies to all ages and times.
