Handling thoughts
Question
hi dhananjay,
i have the following queries.
1.do we lose our prana by constantly thinking on a future issue which is very important in our life, even though we try our best not to think about it. What should a brahmachari do in this condition which he is unable to control his thoughts.
2.In Bhagavad Gita it is said that though we have dhyana yoga, karma yoga in this kali yuga bhakti yoga is suitable and we should chant the name of god which alone can bestow moksha to us. My doubt is the sadhaka who is in Krishna consiousness need not do any yoga is it true as i am confused here.
3.In an article i read that in antar mouna we bring the samskaras from deep inside the mind and we leave them so that they will not come again and in yoga samadhi it is said that the samskaras are burnt. what is the difference between these two. please give your valuable advice.
thanks,
ganapathi.
Answer
1. Excessive planning or thinking of the future is a waste of time. One should strive honestly today in the direction of his Dharma (duty bestowed by the Lord). Tomorrow then takes care of itself. Correct practice of a life of Yoga with meditation as described will help come to terms with the situation.
2. Various methods for liberation are suggested in the Bhagavad Gita. All the methods cannot be followed by all people. The method which appeals and applies the most alone will be followed.
There are many roads to reach another city. Can you travel by all the roads at once and reach it? This is what you are trying to do. Any one road will do; but one cannot travel on all the roads at the same time as you are planning. You are into the practice of Raja Yoga as described here in past answers. This is the method awarded to you by the Lord. Stick to the method honestly. You will reach the destination one day. Donot worry about other methods.
3. You will know the difference when you experience Samadhi. Reading an article cannot lead to understanding. For now, donot worry too much about theory. The purpose of theory is to make one aware of the topic and nothing more. It cannot instill real knowledge. Real knowledge is gained from experience and not in any other way. Stick to the practice of a life of Yoga & Brahmacharya as described in past answers with the utmost sincerity and devotion to God. All knowledge will slowly unravel itself.
