Will it be proper for mr to observe Brahmacharya after breaks?

Dhananjay • 6/28/2012
Question

Dear ‘Dhananjay’,

Pranaams.

•   I am a 41 yr old serving officer of the Indian Army.
•   Certain plans have been coming thru me by the grace of HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (Founder of the ‘Art of Living’ – AOL) for raising the agricultural production of India thru the fertile plains of Bihar state since I did the Basic Course of the AOL in Apr 2002 (that is these plans have evolved thru me over more than 10 years).
•   The plans envisage effectively saving upon the post harvest losses in Bihar state; and encouraging the residents of the state to raise their own agribusinesses in the state.
•   The Indian bureaucracy is notorious across the world for its corruption; and so, though a large amount of funds are available (waiting to be tapped).
•   The general plan is to ensure the objective thru a SOCIETY of retired officers of the Indian Army from Bihar.
•   The SOCIETY would be HQ in Patna in Bihar; and would consist of THREE Departments; with well defined tasks and charter of duties.
•   All the Depts would be staffed by recently retired personnel of the Indian Army and suitably modified systems as practiced in the Indian Army would be followed.
•   Details of these plans in their various stages of evolution can be easily found over Internet by typing the keywords “plans for enhancing the food security of India” “Arun” “Bihar” “Art of Living”
•   I have had a highly spiritual upbringing; because my father, after completing his M.A., PhD in Sanskrit in 1969 from Darbhanga in Bihar; had moved to work in the ‘Kaivalyadhama’ Yoga Research Institute in Lonavla in Pune district of Maharashtra state.
•   I was born in Lonavla (in Jul 1971) and studied in Don Bosco, Lonavla and in Fergusson College, Pune before going for my Military training.
•   In Kaivalyadhama; I was exposed to Vedic Chanting and prayers in the (then) calm and serene environment of the (Yoga Research) Institute from my childhood.
•   After completing my Military training; I was sent to the ‘Siachen’ Glacier and after that, for the Infantry Young Officer’s Course in Infantry School, Mhow (MP).
•   While doing this Course; I survived a SEVERE Head Injury in which I was in Coma for 20 days because my SKULL was fractured in 23 places in a Road Traffic accident on night 12-13 Nov 1993.
•   Still, I have survived; and retained all my earlier abilities (including my physical fitness and my facility in the English language).
•   The Basic Course of the AOL that I did in Apr 2002 gave the required direction to my life force.
•   I had the following nagging query:
o   In this Human life; we have to pacify our Rajo Gun (hamen apna rajogun shaant karna hota hai).
o   The mind gets ‘agitated’ due to passion. (kaam se rajogun badhta hai)
o   I have found that I get greater focus in the direction of planning the finer aspects of these plans when I indulge in thoughts of passion (or after acts of discharging of the veerya).

•   In such an event, will it be proper for me to break my Brahmacharya after some periods?

Answer

1. Such upraisal of Rajas (activating nature) which one might experience from loss of ‘Veerya’ (seminal fluid) is temporary, non-self sustaining and the result of an undercurrent of anger and inadequacy (that springs further to loss). Veerya is soul force and he who loses it loses a part of himself. He cannot succeed in any endeavour beyond a limit. Get established in Brahmacharya through a few years of unbroken practice. The difference and meaning then become s clear.

2. All energy and power in the seen and unseen universe stems from the Lord alone. It is this energy alone that can create and help things grow, be it in the material or spiritual world. Veerya is the representation of this divine force in gross form. The power and ability that an established Brahmachari carries cannot be described. It is a power that is above the body, mind and the psyche. It is the power of the very Lord himself. Even his Sankalpa-s (wishes) bear great strength when focused right. Hence one should not loose the creatiuve fluid at any cost.

Sage Pathanjali states the effect of unbroken continence in the ‘Yoga Darsana’ Chap II, Verse 38 :

| ब्रह्मचर्य प्रतिष्टायां वीर्य लाभः ||

“Upon establishment in Brahmacharya comes the gain of Veerya’”.

The word Veerya here refers to a multitude of qualities that include valor, bravery, strength, persistence, tenacity, efficience, grit, determination and many other related qualities. In other words, Veerya represents the net sum of all energy that man makes use of to succeed in any given task. Hence its gain portends success and loss eventually leads to failure. This is the truth.

ॐ तत् सत्
(That Supreme being is the absolute truth)
