Search for happiness & 'sincerity'

Dhananjay • 6/3/2013
Question

Namaste Prabhu...
1.How would you define "BOREDOM"?
And why is it that our body always wants itself to be absorbed in some or the other thing?
Can't it remain happy by having access to food, clothing and shelter alone? Why does it always wander after something that keeps it completely absorbed?
2.In your previous answers, you have stressed on "SINCERITY"?I used to overlook this word. What actually does it mean by being SINCERE in Brahmacharya?(Just for my clarification).

Thank You Prabhu!Hare Krsna!

Answer

1. One's real nature of the Atman (pure self) is that of Ananda (bliss). Since this is obscured through false association with the Ahamkara (Ego), the individual is forever in search of happiness, not knowing how and where to find it. Thus every man's search for happiness is his unconscious quest to know the self. When the Jiva finally realizes that such bliss cannot be found anywhere else on the outside, it finally withdraws into its own Atman (self) which had all along been the greatest and only source of infinite happiness. It then finds the greatest peace and joy.

2. Suppose you are crossing the street when a truck suddenly comes towards you at great speed... How will you react? You will run out of the path of the truck with such force and speed that you yourself never thought existed. It may now be said that you were 'sincere' in your efforts while escaping the truck. There was complete honesty in your actions with no other thought. You were completely 'sincere' in the act of escaping. Such sincerity when applied by the Brahmachari in overcoming the 'Ahamkara'(Ego) is what is required.

ॐ तत् सत्
(That Supreme being is the absolute truth)
