The body during meditation
Question
A long time practicioner of brahmacharya (understood in the limited sense of abstention from sex in thoughts, deeds, and words) if he practice meditation he can reach a state of forgetting body and mind easier than a common man?
The body appear much as an obstacle as when you feel it heavy or with much muscular or nervous tension which then attach the mind to the sensations of the body or to the coarse or irregular breath during meditation.
Answer
1. Yes.
2. When meditation on the self is practiced for many years, with unbroken Brahmacharya carried out in the true sense, the mind eventually de-links from the body and merges into the self, following which there is no longer any awareness of the body, world or mind. That is termed as Samadhi. Then there is only the ocean of pure consciousness, the true self.
