Trance and Spirit channelling
Question
Many people want to considers Western mediumnistic and African practices such as trance and spirit-channeling (anciently called possesion) where the Ego is dissolved and a spirit is active to be the equivalent of spirituality as practiced in the Eastern World. And my other doubt is this: If you are dissolving your ego in meditation, is there some danger of possesion? In both cases the ego is to be dissolved to attain a particular state.
Answer
1. The Ego is not dissolved in any of these practices. Hence it is not of any use in knowing the Atman (self)
2. What is the Ego? Who is dissolving the Ego? Who possesses whom? Who are you in reality? realize that first, keeping all things aside. Then every query gets answered. Till then, such questions are like trying to find the footprints of a fish swimming in water.
