Purpose behind pre-marital Brahmacharya

Dhananjay • 2/2/2013
Question

If the effects of sexual downfall are more severe after one attains some level of celibacy, then why is celibacy encouraged for a while before one gets married? as after marraige one will naturally fall into the indulgence state most often.

Answer

A person who has tasted the benefits of Brahmacharya will eventually realize the limitation of the sexual act and hence does not get the mind to squander away his resources, unlike the non-Brahmachari.

Learning to limit sexual activity for its rightful purpose of procreation is also one of the purposes of the results/aftermath that one experiences after the sexual act. Experience is the lesson that is learnt in this classroom called Samsara to help man realize the true nature of his self and the falsity of the non-self.
